Corporal Aaron Michael Allen was killed Friday by an improvised explosive device (IED). This was his second tour in Iraq and he was scheduled to return to the U.S. December 20.

"I told him, I don't care if you come back with no arms and no legs, you better get your butt home," Corporal Allen's sister, Amy Allen, said. "He promised, he said 'I'll never let anything bad happen to you and Mom.'"

It is a promise he was not able to keep.

WYTV -- Even before he graduated from Boardman High School in 1989, Donald Clark knew his calling.

Donald's father, Donal Clark, says, "Donnie was always a person interested in helping others."

He did so by joining the military, first the navy, then in 1995 he enlisted in the army working his way up to Warrant Officer.

That's where he discovered his true passion, flying.

"That was his life. He loved it next to his family. He just glowed when he talked about flying", says Linda Clark, Donnie's mother.

And while he ultimately lost his life in the skies over Iraq, Donnie's family says they can take comfort in the fact he died doing what he loved and what he believed in.

Press-Enterprise -- Armando A. De La Paz Jr., a 21-year-old Riverside man serving as in the U.S. Army in Iraq, died Thursday from injuries suffered in a vehicle rollover in Baghdad, the Department of Defense announced Friday. The incident is under investigation, the Pentagon said in a news release.

Spc. De La Paz was the son of Armando and Elizabeth De La Paz of Riverside. He graduated in 2005 from Arlington High School in Riverside.

The family declined to comment, with Spc. De La Paz's father saying that if they talk about him, it would be after the Army investigation was completed.

Arlington teacher Scott Godwin said Spc. De La Paz stood out because he was a much more voracious reader of literature than most students.

"The Color Purple" by Alice Walker, "Rain of Gold" by Victor Villaseñor, "Native Son" by Richard Wright and "Kaffir Boy" by Mark Mathabane were some of the books he read eagerly at Arlington.
