Yuriy Koydan was killed on September 30, 2003, near the Kut Airbase when the vehicle he was travelling in left the road and rolled. He was a patrol commander with the Ukrainian element of the Multinational Division conducting peacekeeping duties in Southern Iraq.

Sergiy Suslow

On November 11, 2003, at approximately 22:37 local time in El Asisia, Vasit Province, Iraq, Sergey Suslov was guarding a bank when he suffered a mortal injury caused by improper handling of his weapon.
Suslov, an APC machine gunner, was assigned to the 5th Separate Mechanised Brigade of the Ukrainian Army, serving in Iraq as a part of the "South-Centre" Multinational Division.

Oleh Tikhonov

Hometown. Ukraine.
Oleh Tikhonov, commander of the 73rd Motorised Battalion, was killed on Wednesday, September 29, 2004, in a vehicle accident in Wasit Province, Iraq. Two more Ukrainian peacekeepers, Colonel Volodymyr Kravchenko, commander of the 63rd motorised Battalion and Heorhii Rohozhyn, senior officer of the 6th Brigade's command co-ordination department, sustained injuries.

The officers were driving in a Chevrolet car around the posts and observation points where peacekeepers of the 6th and 7th Brigades carry on their mission. There are presently nearly 1,600 Ukrainian peacekeepers in Iraq, which are deployed in the province of Wasit situated some 120-140 kilometres to the south east of Baghdad in the Polish-controlled zone.

Roman Genzersky

Roman Genzersky committed suicide when he shot himself in the head with a machine-gun at the base used by Ukrainian forces in Al-Kut airport on Friday July 2, 2004.

Genzersky did assignments inside the base of the Ukrainian forces, and did not patrol or guard important objects. He had previously submitted a letter to his superiors that he wanted to stay in Iraq for a second term with the Ukrainian unit, which is to replace the current peacekeepers in Iraq.

Roman Serednytskij

Individuals UkrainePravda.com -- On Sunday, approximately 2 pm local time, the body of the senior officer from Ukrainian forces of multinational division in Iraq, the colonel Roman Serednytskij was found in Baghdad, Iraq.

It was informed by the Press Agency of the Ministry of Defense, "Ukrainian news" say.

The body of the officer was found in his own apartment.

The previous conclusions of doctors from the military hospital in Baghdad, where his body was taken to, say that the reason of Ukrainian officer’s death could be a heart attack.

Bomb blast kills 7 Ukrainians, 1 Kazakh serving with coalition in Iraq

CBC.CA -- BAGHDAD (AP) - In an apparent accident, seven Ukrainians and one Kazakh serving with the U.S.-led coalition in Iraq were killed Sunday in an explosion while loading bombs that could be used by warplanes, officials said.

Meanwhile south of Baghdad, U.S. troops opened fire after their convoy was struck by a roadside bomb at a checkpoint, killing at least two policemen and three civilians, police said Sunday, a day after the U.S. military acknowledged five people were killed when it bombed the wrong house during a search operation in northern Iraq.

Lt.-Col. Artur Domanski, a Polish military spokesman in Iraq, said the bomb blast occurred at about noon at an ammunition dump about 10 kilometres south of Suwaira. Eleven soldiers - seven Ukrainians and four Kazakhs - were wounded in the explosion, he said.

Few details about the deaths of the Ukrainians and Kazakh were known. Domanski said an investigation had been launched. Ukraine's Defence Ministry said soldiers were loading aviation bombs when one device exploded.

Two Ukranian Soldiers Killed

Individuals Ukrainewww.albawaba.com -- Two Ukrainian soldiers were killed and a third was wounded in an ambush in southeastern Iraq, the Ukrainian defense ministry stated Wednesday. The incident took place near the village of Zubadia, some 180 kilometers southeast of Baghdad, when three Ukrainian armored personnel carriers came under attack.

Two US military helicopters provided cover for the Ukrainians to evacuate their men after the attack. A third US chopper transported the injured soldier toward Baghdad, where he was reported to be in stable condition.

the two soldiers killed were Konstantin Mihaliev, 23, from the Khmelnytskyi Region and Jaroslav Zlochevskij from Borshchov.

Ruslan Androschuk

Individuals UkraineUkraNews.com -- Ukrainian peacekeeper Ruslan Androschuk has died of the injuries he sustained during a battle for a bridge over River Tigris in Iraq, the press service of the Defense Ministry has announced.

The press service said that Androschuk died during his evacuation to the Ukrainian peacekeepers' base.

According to the press service, the situation in the town of Al Kut, near which the base of the Ukrainian peacekeepers is located, was tense during the first half of Tuesday, April 6, but Ukrainian peacekeepers had the situation under control.

The press service said that numerous armed groups appeared in the town during the second half of the day and attempted to take over strategic facilities.

A battle ensued as the Iraqi armed groups attempted to seize control of the bridge over River Tigris from Ukrainian peacekeepers. During the battle, the Iraqi fighters fired an anti-tank rocket against an armored transporter.

The resulting explosion injured six peacekeepers, including Private Androschuk, who was seriously injured.
