Individuals PolandSeveral Coalition casualties were reported as a result of an accident during engineering work at an ammunition and explosives storage area near here around 9 a.m. June 8, 2004.

The medical evacuation of casualties is ongoing.

The Ministries of Defense of affected Coalition nations will be notified prior to public release of specific casualties.



Andrzej Zielke.
Rank. Private First Class.
Age. 26.
Unit. 16 Engineer Battalion, 16 Pomorska Mechanised Division.
Hometown. Prochnik, Poland.
Andrzej Zielke, stationed in Elblag, Poland, was killed in action on Tuesday June 8, 2004, during a mortar attack near As Suwayrah, Iraq. Five other Coalition soldiers were killed in the same attack.

To the Zielke family from the Wahl family. Andrez is a national Hero to his countrymen and women. An a Hero to every colation forces serving in Afghanistan and Iraq. Andrzej is a military brother to our son US ARMY Sgt. Gregory L. Wahl KIA Balad, Iraq 05-03-04. I can assure you Gregory believe that. That soldiers around the world have brotherhood. A calling to serve his or her country risking one's life: to make our world a better place for all. Healing is a slow process. Reflect on the very precious moments shared together with Andrzej. He is in your heart always. The Iraqi people will never forget Andrzej scarifice for them. He also was a warrior to fighting terrorism worldwide. Without soldier such as him, be a very sad world. God Bless!
