Wayne M. Geiger

   
Individuals US A Vilseck, Germany-based soldier died last Thursday in Baghdad of wounds sustained when a bomb went off near his vehicle, the Pentagon said Saturday.

Spc. Wayne M. Geiger, 23, of Lone Pine, Calif., was assigned to 3rd Squadron, 2nd Stryker Cavalry Regiment.

Geiger was a 2003 graduate of Lone Pine High School, according to www.ksrw.sierrawave.net. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in October 2005 and was deployed to Iraq on Sept. 1.

He is survived by his parents, Lt. Randy Geiger, a member of the Inyo Sheriff’s Department, his mother, Kim Geiger, a department employee, and a sister, Jessica.

The 2nd SCR left Vilseck for a 15-month tour in Baghdad in August. Geiger is the ninth man to have been killed.

My heart goes out to all of you loved, befriended or just knew this amazing man that gave his life so that we may know the true meaning of freedom. You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
