Individuals Fijiwww.fijitimes.com -- A Fiji soldier has died in Iraq.

Corporal Sekuri Soko of the Republic of Fiji Military Forces died last week of a suspected heart attack.

RFMF spokesman Lieutenant-Colonel Orisi Rabukawaqa said Cpl Soko had left for Iraq with a contingent of soldiers in November last year.

"That was the third contingent to Iraq but this is the first fatality for the RFMF since the first deployment in November 2004," he said.

"Cpl Soko of Ono-i-Lau died on the morning of March 16 of a suspected coronary artery disease and his remains will be returned to Fiji next week when travel details have been finalised," said Lt-Col. Rabukawaqa.

He said Cpl Soko is survived by his wife Laise and three children.

A family member said relatives met yesterday to discuss funeral arrangements.

Mr Soko was 44 years old.
