KFDM -- A soldier from Liberty County has been killed in a roadside bombing in Iraq.

The U.S. Army says 30 year old Sergeant Shaun Tousha of Hull died Wednesday in Baghdad from wounds he received when a roadside bomb exploded near his vehicle.

Tousha was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 66th Armor Regiment, 1st Brigade Combat Team, 4th Infantry Division at Fort Hood.

KFDM News spoke by phone with Shaun's uncle in Hull.

Chester Tousha told us Shaun had been in the military for about eight years and had served several tours of duty in Iraq since the war began in 2003.

Shaun was born and raised in Hull and played football in high school.

Chester told us Shaun was a "good kid and an outgoing person."

Shaun's wife lives in Killeen where Shaun was stationed.

His father died of heart failure in 2002 and his mother died of cancer when Shaun was a teenager. Shaun's stepmother lives in Hull.

Funeral arrangements are pending.

Another Southeast Texas soldier was killed in a separate roadside bombing in Iraq.

25 year old Staff Sgt. Jeffery L. Hartley of Hempstead died Tuesday of wounds suffered when his vehicle also was the target of an improvised bomb.

Hartley was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 10th Field Artillery Regiment, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, 3rd Infantry Division at Fort Benning, Ga.
