The Post Journal -- Pfc. Patrick W. May of Jamestown man has been killed in a non-combat incident in Baghdad, Iraq, on Tuesday.

May had been assigned to the Division Special Troops Battalion, 10th Mountain Division (Light Infantry), Fort Drum, N.Y.

The incident is under investigation, according to the Department of Defense. Non-battle wounds can range from injuries in vehicle accidents to illnesses.

There was no more information available at 7 p.m. Thursday from the Fort Drum public affairs office.

May is the second Jamestown area soldier to be killed fighting in Iraq or Afghanistan. Sgt. James Charles Matteson was killed in November 2004 during combat in Fallujah, Iraq, when his Humvee was hit with a rocket-propelled grenade. Pfc. Charles Cooper was killed in April 2005 when a roadside bomb exploded near his unit.
