NBC4 -- BALTIMORE, Md. -- A 2004 graduate of Fallston High School who followed her older brother into the Marines was killed during fighting in Iraq, her aunt said Thursday.

Cpl. Jennifer Marie Parcell, 20, of Bel Air, Md., died Wednesday "while supporting combat operations in Anbar province," the Department of Defense said.

"If you knew her, you loved her. She was a go-getter. She knew what she wanted in life, and she was doing what she had to do to achieve that," Parcell's aunt, Martha Benton of Aberdeen, said.

Parcell joined the Marine Corps in January 2005. Benton said she'd wanted to enlist since attending her brother Joseph's graduation at Parris Island.

Joseph Parcell, 24, enlisted in February 2003, and he is returning from his tour to be with family.

The brother and sister were stationed together in Iraq for about a month before their tours of duty separated them, Benton said.

Math was her forte at Fallston High School in 2004, Benton said. She said Jennifer Parcell always enjoyed the water, including boating and scuba diving. She also liked yoga and music and spending time with family and friends.

Jennifer Parcell was assigned to Combat Logistics Regiment 3, 3rd Marine Logistics Group, III Marine Expeditionary Force, based in Okinawa, Japan.

She had earned six medals, and Benton said Marine Corps officials told the family Jennifer Parcell may be eligible for a Purple Heart.

"We're just going to miss her very, very much," Benton said. "She was always someone you could count on."

The family was notified of her death Wednesday afternoon.

Also Thursday, the family of a 21-year-old Navy paramedic from the Eastern Shore said he was killed when a Marine helicopter crashed in Iraq Wednesday.

Manuel Ruiz, of Federalsburg, was two weeks into his second tour of duty when the CH-46 Sea Knight helicopter in which he was riding crashed, killing six other people onboard.

To the Parcell family from the Wahl family. Hearing the news sent chills up my spine. Everytime I here another fallen soldier. Tears just rolled down my cheeks like it had for my son. Jennifer was so much more then a soldier and HERO! To all those that knew and loved her. So I strongly suggest together we all welcome her home to rest. Let's honor her for she wouldn't want anyone sad or unhappy. She truly, loved you all to much then for you all to be happy. By honoring her by reflecting on the very fond and precious memorable moments you each shared together with your JENNIFER! Then you realize she will always be in your heart. I appreciate Jennifer's service to our country. She is the elite among 300,000,000 American's. America has been blessed that she answered the call to be a "MARINE" soldier. Just like her brother. An her miltary brothers and sisiter's that fallen prior to her. Are with her now never alone. She has fought off terrorism, protected our liberities, freedom and our way of life. Know that every fallen families heart and prays are with your Jennifer and your family. Reach out to your Congressmen and women today. To have the local Post Office be dedicated to Jennifer. My husband is a civilian in Iraq providing logistics to the Marines. He knew Jennifer personally, in fact working side-by-side with her on a daily basis. I can tell you that this young woman made a lasting impression on him. Ken has been in the Al Anbar Province for nearly three years and has seen the loss of many Americans, both military and civilian. I want you to know that the loss of "Cpl. Parcell" brought him to his knees. He called me, grief striken, to tell me of her death. He told me how he thought of her as a daughter and looked out for her. He said she was very smart, cute, personable, that she loved to tease him about his age (he's 58) and would call him Dad, and that she was a good soldier and a good girl. He doesn't call me in tears and pain every time someone is lost. But I can tell you that Ken, as well as all of the others who knew her, are grieving for her loss. That's how special she was. You should also know that there were two other Marines lost with her that day, as well as 8 others wounded.

Hi Jenn

14 months have pasted since you left us. I miss you dearly Boo. A part of me died with you that day. I will never forget all the good times that we had. You gave me a lifetime of memories. My only regret is that I did not get a chance to say goodbye to my dear friend. It is hard but I will live my life to the fullest in honor of you. I will make you proud of me.

I was thinking of you today.... as always. I miss you so much. I wish I could have gotten a chance to say goodbye to you. But I know that you are in a better place and that you are not truely gone. You live on, I feel your warmth in the early morning sun, your spirit roams the earth in the blowing to touch everyone. A piece of you will also be in my heart and you are in my dreams. You gave your all so that I can continue to live my dreams. I promise to live my life to the fullest in your honor. I will make you proud of me. Rest In Peace my dear friend and angel. I am Sergeant David Jeffers U.S. Marine Corps. To the family of Cpl Parcell I thank you for your daughter's service. It is Marines like her that make it an honor for me to be in the Corps. She will never be forgotten by the Marine Corps because we are her second family, and I will mourn her death as if it were my own sister's passing. We will honor her the best way we know how, and that is to serve with the same dedication to duty and courage that Cpl Parcell did. If ever you need anything know that you can contact me and I will be there because we take care of our own. email: greywaya@comcast.net
