The Department of Defense announced today the death of a soldier who was supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom.   He died of injuries sustained in Baghdad, Iraq, on Sept. 23, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his M113 armored personnel carrier.  He also were attacked by enemy forces using small arms fire.  He was assigned to the Army National Guard's 1st Battalion, 184th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Infantry Division, Oakdale, Calif.

Killed was:

 Sgt. Paul C. Neubauer, 40, of Oceanside, Calif., who died on Sept. 23.

I would like to say thank you to you and the other soldier who died on that APC with you. And to your family, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

I am sorry that I believed that there was always time for us to hook back up for that last beer after we both got out of the Navy. i guess now we'll split it with St. Peter. give them hell.
