 KTUU -- ANCHORAGE, Alaska -- A 20-year-old soldier stationed at Fort Wainwright in Fairbanks died from wounds suffered during a helicopter crash in Balad, Iraq, the Army said in a press release Monday.

Spc. Michael S. Cote, 20, worked on UH-60 Blackhawk helicopters, and he was in one that went down Saturday. The crash is being investigated, the Army said.
Cote, from Denham Springs, LA, was assigned to A Company, 1st Battalion, 52nd Aviation Regiment, Task Force 49. He joined the Army in 2007 and moved to Alaska in March of 2008.
Next of kin have been notified.
Cote was the only person killed in the crash. Twelve other service members were injured, military officials said.
The circumstances surrounding the crash are under investigation, according to a U.S. Army news release.
