I remember SSG Mejias, when he was PV2 Mejias in Bamberg. We deployed to OIF 2 together... I just found out this afternoon in Germany. SSG Mejias will be terribly missed by his fellow NCOs as well as the people he deployed with in 1ID.
I still can't believe that he's gone.... I pray for his family... and hope they find the strength to carry on in his memory....

Jacob,
I would like to say thank you for your service and sacrifice for our Country-not just in OIF, but also for your service in Kosovo as well. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.

A grateful citizen

David was a good man, a great Soldier. I had the fortune of being in his company during his first Iraq tour. I remember him as a squared away individual, very smart and destined for great things. He was very family oriented and was very selfless. It was an honor to serve with him and a great loss to the military community.

I have known lived and worked with SSG Mejias for over five years, and can
sincerely says this great man was the yard stick used to measure excellence
and what all American ought to be like. His positive example during his
service with 1ID are still being emulated by his peers and
subordinates.

SSG Mejias was also a dedicated husband with strong moral and ethical
convictions, I was truly bless being able to be his room mate for 2 years and know this great American, the bond
that him and I develop was like brothers relationship, a irreplaceable
void.

May Staff Sergeant David A. Mejias soul rest in peace and the almighty grant
his family the strength to continue his legacy.Dios te vendiga mi hermano, del alma. we will miss you for ever!!! SSG Baire, Robert.

Thank you all for posting such great comments about my nephew, SSG David A. Mejias. I am blessed with the opportunity to serve as his escort from Dover AFB to Puerto Rico where he will be laid to rest. He was indeed a great human being. I will miss him very much.

Dios te Bendiga, sobrino.
