The Associated Press -- WASHINGTON — A Texas soldier has died in Iraq from injuries sustained from a non-combat related incident, the Department of Defense said Friday.

First Sgt. Jeffrey R. McKinney, 40, of Garland, died Wednesday in Adhamiyah, Iraq. No other details were released and the incident is under investigation, the department said.

McKinney was assigned to the 1st Battalion, 26th Infantry Regiment, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division, in Schweinfurt, Germany.
