KXAN -- AUSTIN, Texas (KXAN) -- A Texas soldier from Cedar Park has died in Iraq.

Matthew T. Morris, 23, was killed Sunday in Balad, Iraq, when his vehicle hit a makeshift bomb. Captain Ulises Burgos-Cruz, 29, of Puerto Rico, also died in the blast.

Morris was a Cedar Park High School graduate assigned to the 2nd Squadron, 3rd Armored Cavalry Regiment out of Fort Hood, Texas.

He was the oldest of four children and the son of a Vietnam veteran. The family said they are planning his funeral for early next week, and Morris will be buried in Killeen.

God bless this wonderful hero. My deepest sympathy to his family and may they be blessed during this sad journey. He will be remembered always by his fellow 'brothers', and a smile will be included in those memories.

To the family and friends my deepest regrets. Matt was a great man and the biggest HERO I have ever know. He touched everyone he knew my granddaugher called me and said granny I really really loved Matt. And I told her he loved her to and always remember the he was a hero to her and to everybody even if they didn't know him he was still a HERO. And to his parents you were always number one in his life. Thank you for raising a great man. He will always be my biggest HERO. GOD BLESS YOU AND MY PRAYERS ARE WITH YOU. '

Matthew,
I would just like to say thank you to you and the other soldier who was also killed in that blast for your service and sacrifice for our Country. And to your family and loved ones, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
