Salvatore Marracino

   
Individuals ItalySalvatore Marracino died of injuries in a military hospital in Kuwait on Tuesday March 15, 2005 after accidently shooting himself in the head while conducting training at a rifle range in southern Iraq. He had been trying to unblock the barrel of his weapon when it discharged.


Salvatore arrived at the Italian base in Nasiriyah on February 25. He joined young at the age of 14 after to having to achieve a maturity diploma.

Salvatore had always to be in the Armed Forces. His friends said he was proud being of being able to serve his Native land. Serving in Iraq was not his first mission to a foreign country, having already made others. He had completed tours in Kosovo and recently in Afghanistan.

His father, Antonio, owns a carpenter's shop in a tree-lined avenue in his hometown. He is also survived by his mother, Gina, and two brothers, Massimiliano and Luca.

You are an Italian Hero! As you are so much more to those that knew and loved you. Thank You for the u;imate scarifice. figting off terrorism and helping the Iraqi people. you are the elite of every Italian. Very few ever serve his or her country. doing so tells me alot about Salvatore. I appreciate your brotherhood to our son gregory. He felt that about you. I realize both of you didn't know one another. Still he served with many from Italy. He always soke very highly of those soldiers he did know. My heart and prays are with you.
