Kun Y. Kim

Individuals USGeorgia suffered another Iraq War-related casualty this week, the fifth since the start of the year, with the death of a Marine from Atlanta.

Lance Cpl. Kun Y. Kim, 20, was one of four Marines killed during combat operations in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom, the U.S. Department of Defense announced Wednesday. All were assigned to the 3rd Battalion, 8th Marine Regiment, 2nd Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force at Camp Lejune, N.C.

Kim and two other Marines died Sunday in Iraq's Al Anbar Province, military officials said. A fourth Marine died Friday in the same area, they said.

In his role as a Marine, Kim provided assistance against reinforced enemy positions and delivered fire support for his company, said 1st Lt. Barry Edwards, a Marine spokesman.

Kim joined the Marines in October 2003.

Kun,
I would like to say thank you to you and the three other men from your unit(3/8) who were killed that day for your service and sacrifice for our Country. And to your family, I wish to extend my deepest sympathy.
