www.kristv.com -- McALLEN, Texas -- A Texas soldier who was killed this week in Iraq left behind a wife of two years and a 5-month-old baby boy.
Army Spc. James C. Kesinger, 32, of Pharr, Texas, was among four soldiers killed Tuesday in Taji when a roadside bomb exploded near their vehicle, the U.S. Department of Defense said.

Kesinger, a native of Corpus Christi, was serving his second deployment in Iraq and was scheduled to return in three months, The Monitor reported for its Saturday edition.
Kesinger met his wife, Juanita Zuniga, in 2003 through an Internet chat room while he was serving in Iraq, Zuniga's parents told the McAllen newspaper.
They married that year, and purchased a home in Pharr the following year between Kesinger's Iraq tours.
Kesinger deployed again in January, after his wife had become pregnant. The soldier was able to visit for two weeks during the summer to share in his son's birth, the Zunigas said.
"He stayed for 15 days and then he was back to the war," said Jesus Zuniga, Kesinger's father-in-law. "He was supposed to be coming home in three months time."
Kesinger was assigned to the Army's 2nd Battalion, 70th Armor, 3rd Brigade Combat Team, Fort Riley, Kan.
Family members said Kesinger's funeral is likely to be next week in Corpus Christi. |
