Yuriy Ivanov

   
Individuals Ukrainewww.nrcu.gov.ua - President Leonid Kuchma has sent a message of condolences to the family and relatives of Captain Yuriy Ivanov, who was killed in Iraq, the Defense Ministry's press service rinformed.

Capt Yuriy Ivanov was a logistical platoon commander with the 62nd Detached Mechanized Battalion. He was killed on the Sunday morning of August 15, 2004, when a remotely controlled demolition charge blasted his vehicle near a pond in the vicinity of Es Suweira.

President Kuchma has signed a decree to posthumously decorate Capt Yuriy Ivanov with the Order For Bravery, 1st Grade. The Defense Ministry and the General Staff have sent messages of condolences to Yuriy Ivanov's wife, daughter and relatives.

Yuriy thank you for being a "SOLDIER"! Not many are willing to serve his or her country. You naswered a calling in life. That you had been willing to risk your life for a free Iraq. That tells me the man you are ! An that you have not given your life in VAIN! You are a hero to all of your countrymen and women. You are amilitary brother to every soldier in the world. More so you are appreciated by my son and all American soldier's. Thank You! My heart and prays are with nyou and your family. Father of fallen soldier US Army Sgt. Gregory L. Wahl KIA Balad, Iraq 05-03-04. August 15th was our son's birthday. An you are remembered today, and all the tomorrow's!
