— A 24-year-old Fort Riley soldier was killed in Iraq when his vehicle was hit by an improvised explosive device, the post said Thursday.

Spc. Curtis E. Glawson Jr., of Daleville, Ala., died Tuesday in Baghdad, the 88th Fort Riley soldier killed in Iraq since the war started in March 2003.

Glawson was a light-wheel vehicle mechanic assigned to 610th Brigade Support Battalion, 4th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 1st Infantry Division.

He entered the Army in 2000 and began serving with the 1st Infantry Division last year. He was on his first deployment to Iraq.

He was a good friend and a great person to be around I am glad I had a change to know him cause people like him are hard to find. To the family I am so sorry for you lost but believe me he will be truly missed and never forgotten by many

I never got to met you but I have heard alot of great things about you and i am sorry i never got to meet you....your brother is married to my daughter and I was very sorry when i heard that you had passed.....I know that you are with God and that you are in a better place...job well done....rest you deserve it .....you are gone ...but you will never be forgotten........Karen
