Paun Georgiev and Tsvetan Kamov were killed on Tuesday, June 14, 2005, due to a vehicle accident 55 kilometres southeast of Ad Diwaniyah.
Paun was born September 5, 1974 in Sopot. He joined the Bulgarian army in September 2004.

Tsvetan was born May 19, 1980 in Karlovo. He joined the Bulgarian army in September 2004.

Four Bulgarian soldiers were patrolling in a BRDM-2 armoured personnel carrier during Operation White Shield. The carrier slipped off a dike, fell into a canal and turned on its side. Marin Milev died a week later.
Private Dimcho Stamov, who was the fourth member of the crew, managed to get out of the vehicle and has no serious wounds, Bulgarian Defense Ministry's press center said.
The Multinational Division Central South Commanding General has appointed a special commission in order to probe into the circumstances of the accident.
The accident came just a month after two Bulgarian soldiers were killed when their vehicle crashed in a sandstorm in Iraq.
Bulgaria has now lost 12 soldiers there - eight in combat and four in accidents, and five civilians. |
