Atlanta Journal Constitution -- A memorial service is scheduled Saturday for a Valdosta Air Force Reserve officer and physical therapist who died less than a month after being called to active duty.

The service for Lt. Col. Glade L. Felix, 53, is scheduled for 6 p.m. at Moody Air Force Base's chapel, Chris Felix, his eldest son, said Friday. His funeral will be Thursday in his hometown of Springville, Utah.
The elder Felix died from heart complications Monday at Al-Udied Air Force Base in Qatar, his son said, adding that his father had no history of medical problems.
"He was in great health and was an avid golfer," Chris Felix said.
He made his first trip to Qatar after he was called to active duty in mid-May, his son said. Felix, a member of the 622nd Aeromedical Expeditionary Force stationed at Warner Robins Air Force Base, also served in Afghanistan in 2005.
Felix enlisted in 1976 to pursue a career as a medic. The married father of four earned a bachelor's degree in sports medicine from Brigham Young University and became a commissioned officer in 1986. A master's degree in physical therapy came later.
He was in the military for almost 31 years, but for more than two decades lived in South Georgia, where he was active as a soccer coach and referee, a Boy Scout leader and a Sunday school teacher at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Valdosta, his son said.
In addition to his eldest son, Felix is survived by his wife, Cathie, and three other adult children: Leo, Chelsea and Sean.
