KARE11 -- Another Minnesota family is in mourning tonight, after learning their loved one has died in Iraq.

Army Private First Class Robert J. Dixon died Sunday after his humvee hit a roadside bomb.

He leaves behind a wife of just one and a half years and two young boys from a previous marriage.

You can spot the home of Dixon on his Minneapolis block, yellow ribbons are wrapped around the curb-side trees and a flag is waving outside his door.

Dixon's widow needed nothing more than visuals on Sunday to know her husband would never again see those ribbons, "The two uniformed officers walked into the house and I knew, right then, they didn't have to say a word," Rusty Rose-Dixon said Wednesday.

Rusty says her husband, who was called "Bobby," was "strong, charismatic and fun."

"He loved people and he loved adventure and he was good at anything he pretty much immersed himself in," she said.

Rusty says he was especially good at being a soldier. "He was great at it," she said. "And we'd been contemplating our future of his reenlistment and how that was going to impact both of us."

Their future together was the subject of their last conversation. Now, Rusty says, she alone will follow their dreams.

"I'm just going to go and do what he'd wish," she said. "I'm going to continue my career and stay close to family and make connections with people that are close to me and that I love."

Bobby is my cousin. I am proud of him. I am proud and appreciative of all our men and woman fighting for our liberties and freedom. Bobby was an honorable man and a blessing to our family. He will be missed. I will remember all the laughs and good times we shared. His memory will never die and I will never forget the sacrifices of his wife, mother, father, sister’s, brothers, and all the extended family. Thank you Bobby! In loving memory

To the family and friends of Spc. Robert J. Dixon.
A great man once said, "Poor is the Nation that has no Heroes, Shameful is the one that, having them, Forgets". We will never forget the duty, service, honor, faithfulness and sacrifice you have given to our nation. You are now in the great cloud of witnesses cheering us on. We will not falter, We will not fail, We will not weaken.

To the family of Spc. Robert J. Dixon
"I pray that our heavenly Father may assuage the anguish of your bereavement, and leave you only the cherished memory of the loved and lost, and the solemn pride that must be yours to have laid so costly a sacrifice upon the altar of freedom. (Lincoln to Mrs. Bixby 21 Nov 1864)". We will continually be praying for your family at our church. God is strengthening you.
