A suicide bombing in northeastern Iraq killed a Fort Benning-based soldier from this U.S. territory.

Lt. Carlos Diaz, 27, a native of the southwestern Puerto Rican town of Yauco, was killed Tuesday when a suicide bomber detonated an explosive device in Baquouba, 35 miles northeast of Baghdad, said Jose Pagan, an army spokesman in Puerto Rico.

An American contractor and five Iraqis were also killed in the attack at the Diyala Provincial Joint Coordination Center, the U.S. military in Iraq said. Nine U.S. soldiers, an American civilian contractor, six Iraqi civilians and four police officers were wounded.

Diaz was assigned to the 2nd Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, 3rd Brigade, 3rd Infantry Division at the Georgia post. He will be buried in Yauco, where his mother lives, Pagan said.

It does not mather where your from, what country you represent or what religion you serve.
It dos not mather if you aprove or disaprove of the Iraqie situation.

Politics are meningless when life are lost.

Remember them!
You should pay respect to those who gave it al.

No mather what, they gave their life for hope.
The hope that thay will make the difference, and help people live in harmonie. That is what life is al about!!

LT. Diaz

My friend, my brother, It's so hard to believe that your are gone it feels like yesterday when I met you signing up for the ROTC. I remember you being so proud, and i knew that the army would be your home. I also met your wife then and we al had good times. I still remember when we went to your house and went rappelling from the bridge. I cant put into words how this feels buddy, But I feel safer now Knowing that heaven"s gates will be guarded by someone like you.It is truly an honor to be able to say that i had the privilege of meeting you, that you had a profound impact in my life, and from one soldier to another all I can say is I'll see you at the change of the guard sir!
