News Channel 25 -- WACO - A soldier assigned to Waco's chapter of the Texas National Guard died earlier this month at the Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C., according to a statement released Saturday by the Department of Defense.

Sergeant Christopher Loza, 24, passed away back on April 10th at the world-renowned hospital. Loza came down with a "non-combat related illness" back on March 17th in Radwaniyah, Iraq.

Loza was originally from Abilene. He was assigned to the 1st Squadron, 124th Cavalry Regiment, 56th Infantry Brigade Combat Team, 36th Infantry Division in Waco.
