INDIANAPOLIS - Specialist Chancellor Arsenio Keesling passed away June 19, 2009 while serving in Iraq.
Chancellor was born June 7, 1984. Until the age of twelve he lived in Jamaica, where he attended Paradise Preparatory School. As he matured, Chancellor developed a love of all things Jamaican, including reggae and football.

When his family relocated to Indianapolis in 1996 to start their new business, Chancellor quickly adapted to life in the U.S., and "football" became "soccer." Following a successful try-out, he joined the F.C. Dynamo Soccer team; this was one of his proudest achievements. He attended Fall Creek Valley Middle School and graduated from Lawrence North H.S., Class of 2003.
Chancellor enlisted in the Army in 2003 and served his first tour of duty in Iraq as a combat engineer assigned to a company out of Fort Sill in Lawton, Oklahoma.
After completing his enlistment in 2006 as a Reserve Army Specialist, Chancellor was assigned to the 961st Engineering Company based out of Sharonville, Ohio. He was re-deployed to Iraq with this unit on May 27, 2009.
Chancey, as he was known to his friends and family, had a great desire to help others, especially those in need. Following the example of his family, he devoted much of his time in the service of others, and was especially sensitive to the needs of those less fortunate.
Chancellor will be profoundly missed and is survived by his loving parents, Gregg and Jannett Keesling; brother, O'Neil; sister, Tiana; grandparents, Gary and Gwen Keesling, of Winchester, Indiana and Terrence and Barbara Fowle of Negril, Jamaica; niece, Amaya; nephew, Sylus; loving uncles and aunts; as well as many cousins and countless friends in Jamaica, America and from all over the world.
Calling will be Friday, June 26th, from 4:00 - 8:00 p.m. at Aaron-Ruben-Nelson Mortuary, 1328 West 86th Street in Indianapolis.
Services will be held at 3 p.m. on Saturday, June 27th, at Agape Christian Church, 10607 East 56th Street in Indianapolis. Services will be followed immediately by a military burial at the Old Oaklandon Cemetery on the Northeast corner of Oaklandon Road and East 71st Street. Family and friends are then invited back to the church for food and fellowship following the burial.
As Chancey would have wished, the Keesling family hopes that in his name the Indianapolis community re-doubles its charitable outreach, particularly in helping ex-offenders and the homeless.
In lieu of flowers, donations will be accepted for an identified homeless family, and should be sent to Keys to Work, Inc., c/o the Homeless Fund, 3602 East Michigan Street, Indianapolis, IN 46201, or to the nonprofit Workforce, Inc. 754 North Sherman, Indianapolis, IN 46201.
