Carlos Castro, based in San Salvador, was killed on Monday June 27, 2005, due to a vehicle accident in Camp Charlie near Al Hillah. It appears that there was an accident as Carlos was repairing the vehicle.

As far as the accident, it happened within the military base Charly, when Godoy Castro came to change a rim of a military vehicle, and was coiled "by another vehicle that arrived to fulfill a mission", explained Defense.


Godoy Castro is the second dead Salvadoran military man in Iraq, after which the 4 of April of 2004 Natividad Méndez Branches it perished at hands of Shiite combatants in Nayaf.

To the Castro family from the Wahl family. Thank You, for serving your country. An for being a military brother to our son. Thank You, for serving along side america in Iraq. To fight off terrorism in the world and to give those in Iraq hope! To one day live in PEACE! Carlos, you have not died vain! You answered aclling many in your country don't! For it take's a calling. Willing to risk everthing as a soldier for the good of your country and the world. We lost our son US Army Sgt. Gregory L. Wahl KIA Balad, Iraq 05-03-04. Gregory married a very pretty El Salvadorian women Maricela Guardado. Carlos you are more then a soldier! You are someone's someone and someone to our family. You have touched many many people in your life. All will remeber those precious fond moments shared with you. That you will always be remebered in a very special way and my your very loving family. i will be sure to tell my grand-daughter that her father served along side the great El Salvadorian Soldiers! That you can be proud that you are American/El Salvadorian. Carlos you are in my heart and prays as your family. An healing take's time. Carlos maybe resting in another place. He is still in your hearts. God Bless!
