Massimiliano Biondini, stationed in Rimini, Italy, was one of four Italian soldiers killed on Tuesday May 31, 2005, when their helicopter crashed 13 kilometres south east of Nasiriyah.

The helicopter was coming back from the Kuwaiti international airport and had stopped to refuel at Camp Buehring, also in Kuwait. Radio contact was lost soon after take off from the camp.
Massimiliano lived in Bagnoregio, where his parents and brother live. Biondini and Marco Cirillo had attended the same specialization course before deploying to Iraq.
Massimiliano had asked to be returned to Italy only days before his death. He wanted to participate in the wedding of his brother, Claudius. The request had been turned down as he had been in Iraq for only a week. |
